New Delhi (Agency): On India’s proposal, the African Union has been included as a permanent member of the G20. Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day G20 summit, PM Narendra Modi proposed the inclusion of the 55-nation African Union as a new member, which was accepted by all the member states. The G20 group of countries with the largest economies was established in 1999 and this is its first expansion since then. Medi said that this will strengthen the voice of the G20 and the Global South. Modi said during his address at the summit, ‘Keeping in mind the spirit of सबका साथ की, India proposed to grant permanent membership of the G20 to the African Union. मेरा विश्वास है की हुम सब आस पर अस्पुर हैन हैं….’ He invited African Union President Azali Assoumani to share the stage amid applause.
