343 Industries has confirmed that Halo Infinite’s fifth season will be its last.
In a stream held last night, the Microsoft-owned studio revealed that the fifth season will begin on January 30, but that when it ends there will be no more.
This, however, does not mean that the game will be abandoned. The intention of 343 is that the traditional seasons give way to a new format, Operations, which will have a shorter duration (between four and six weeks) and will have battle passes, but of only twenty levels.
Those responsible for the game wanted to reaffirm that “they will continue to deliver” with more updates for Halo Infinite, but that “other teams” have started to attend to things for “the future” and are “working on new projects.”
“We have a dedicated team to support Halo Infinite and will continue to deliver in the future, but we also have other teams accelerating into the future working on new projects,” explained community manager Brian Jarrard.
Regarding the fifth season, it is known that there will be new Covenant items for the Forge, a new arena map, a new operation, a free Mark IV Spartan core and the possibility of adding shoulder pieces to all armor.
