On Thursday, the Haryana Assembly committee took stock of the water supply and sewerage system in Muwana village of Safidon. The committee had reached here in connection with the fulfillment of the assurance given on the question of Congress MLA Subhash Gangoli in the Assembly. Chairman of the 10-member assurance committee, six members including Rohtak’s Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra arrived. The committee saw an opportunity for development work in the village. Along with him, local SDM Manish Phogat and senior officials of the concerned engineering departments and other officials of the administration were also present. Former district BJP president Amarpal Rana was also present on the occasion. The five Congress MLAs included Subhash Gangoli of Safidon, Aftab Ahmed of Nuh, Balbir Singh Balmiki of Israna, Induraj of Baroda and JJP MLA Amarjeet Dhanda of Julana.
Committee Chairman Bharat Bhushan Batra said that work has been seen in the village. Their committee will report the situation to the Assembly and efforts will be made to resolve the problems. The streets are in bad condition here, whether government department or Gram Panchayat is formed, the streets will be improved. Correct and adequate water supply at appropriate depth will be provided to complete the work of pipeline and sewerage treatment plant. The committee member MLAs praised the quality of the development work done by the present Gram Panchayat during its one year period and patted the back of Sarpanch Shyamlal Sharma for the same. On this occasion, Chief Engineer of Public Health Department, Aseem Khanna said that testing of water treatment plant will be done on 20th February. He said that it will be the responsibility of the contractor to repair these works for 10 years. The Chief Engineer said that the line of the sewerage treatment plant will be started by linking it to the drain and this work will be completed by December 2024. The committee chairman said that his committee will come here again after four months for follow-up. Sarpanch Shyamlal Sharma said that an estimate of Rs 32.5 lakh was made for the construction of Thobanwali street of the village, for which tender notices were issued five times but no contractor was ready to build it. On this, the Chief Engineer said that the Gram Panchayat can build it in pieces as per its fixed expenditure limit of Rs 5 lakh.
Let us tell you that a budget of Rs 28 crore was allotted for sewerage and drinking water system in Muwana village of Safidon, selected under the Chief Minister Mahagram Yojana, in which two works with an estimated cost of Rs 18.96 crore were executed by a company named Competent Builders and Contractors. were allotted on 12 September 2019 and both these works were to be completed by 15 March 2021. Departmental officials say that these works were also put on hold due to Covid. In the year 2010, the then INLD MLA Kaliram Patwari had also raised a question in the Assembly regarding the drinking water problem of this village and after that, the independent MLA Jasbir Deswal had also raised the issue of drinking water problem of this village in the Assembly.
