The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Himachal Vidhan Sabha Secretariat on the petition of 6 rebel Congress MLAs of Himachal Pradesh. The SC has refused to immediately stay his disqualification for now.

The MLAs have challenged the Speaker’s decision to disqualify himself. The Speaker disqualified Chaitanya Sharma, Sudhir Sharma, Indradutt Lakhanpal, Devendra Bhutto, Rajendra Rana and Ravi Thakur for not appearing in the House during the Budget. The court refused to immediately stay the disqualification of the legislators. The case will now be heard in the second week of May. Also, the assembly by-election in Himachal Pradesh has been suspended till May 6. Himachal Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on February 29 disqualified Congress rebel MLAs Rajendra Rana from Sujanpur, Sudhir Sharma from Dharamsala, Ravi Thakur from Lahaul-Spiti, Indradutt Lakhanpal from Badsar, Chaitanya Sharma from Gargaret and Devendra Kumar Bhutto from Kutleh. . He did cross voting in Rajya Sabha elections. Because of this the Congress candidate was defeated.
