Kharkhoda town of Sonipat, adjacent to New Delhi, is also now taking the form of an industrial area. Demand for land has increased in Kharkhoda. There is now shortage of space in IMT, Kharkhoda. In such a situation, HSIIDC (Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited) has decided to expand IMT. For this, the search for land has been started in 10 villages adjacent to Kharkhoda.

Notice for this has been given by HSIIDC. The government will take land under the land pooling scheme. That means farmers will be given developed industrial plots in exchange of land. However, farmers will have both types of options. Under the policy, if farmers want to take compensation fixed by the government, they will be given compensation. In case of not taking compensation, they will be given developed plots in IMT. So far, good response has been seen among land owners regarding the land pooling scheme. It is clear that Maruti Suzuki, which has made an important contribution in making Gurugram a cyber and millennium city, will now play a special role in changing the face of Kharkhoda (Sonipat). Maruti Suzuki has started work on setting up its new car plant here. At IMT Kharkhoda, the state government has given 800 acres of HSIIDC land to Maruti for the plant. Work has started on this land and the target is to start production from this plant in 2025-26.

Maruti is investing Rs 20 thousand crores on this plant. In the first phase, 2.5 lakh vehicles will be produced annually. After the plant becomes fully operational, 10 lakh vehicles will be produced annually from Kharkhoda. This plant of Maruti will provide direct employment to 20 thousand people and indirect employment to more than two lakh people. Whereas Suzuki Motorcycle is investing Rs 2 thousand crores in 100 acres of land. This plant will produce five lakh two-wheelers annually. More than two thousand people will get direct employment and around 20 thousand will get indirect employment.

Now Maruti has demanded 400 acres more land from the government. Seeing the way the demand for electric vehicles has increased in the country, Maruti has planned to set up a battery plant in Kharkhoda. There is a demand for 400 acres of land for this plant. At present, work is being done day and night on the 800 acres of land that Maruti has for the car plant. The plant will start operation by 2025. Kharkhoda will have a bigger plant than Gurugram and Manesar. Due to this plant of Maruti, hundreds more industrial units will be established here.

asked for land from these villages

HSIIDC has issued a notice to acquire land for the expansion of Kharkhoda IMT. The government will take 5800 acres of land under the land pooling scheme. For this, land has been demanded from the farmers of Barona, Kirauli, Prahladpur, Pai, Sohti, Jasaurkhedi, Kanunda, Khedi Jasaur, Kulasi and Nilotho villages. Farmers willing to give land will make their offer to the government. After this the government will take the land under the land pooling policy. The land pooling policy was made in 2022. If necessary, the government can also amend it.
