Apple shocked by low demand for Vision Pro, plans to launch next version postponed

American devices maker Apple’s mixed reality headset was launched in February this year. It is only available in the US. However, the company plans to introduce it in other international markets soon. Recently, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook said that it will soon be made available in China.

Mark Gurman, Bloomberg’s analyst, told in the Power On newsletter that Apple’s plans for the next two years for Vision Pro do not include information about bringing its next version. Recently, analyst Ming Chi Kuo, who tracks Apple, also said that manufacturing of Vision Pro 2 will not start before 2027. There are reports that the company has also reduced the orders for Vision Pro. Apple is expected to sell fewer units of Vision Pro because its demand has decreased. The company had predicted that up to eight lakh units could be sold. However, this estimate has come down to 4,00,000 to 4,50,000 units. This device will be made available in China this year. Cook told during the China Development Forum that it will be launched in China this year.

He said that Apple plans to continue investing in research and development in China. However, iPhone sales in China have declined 24 percent year-on-year in the first six weeks of this year. Apple is facing tough competition from Chinese companies like Huawei. This is a big sign of decline in demand for the company.
