The Jharkhand government has taken a big decision on Wednesday. The government has announced to give 25 rupees cheaper petrol and diesel to BPL card holders from 26 January. The government will give a subsidy for this and money will be given to the account of the poor through direct cash transfer.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the price of petrol and diesel is increasing continuously, due to which the poor and middle-class people are most affected. Even after having a motorcycle in a farmer’s house, he is unable to go to the market to sell his crops. Therefore, the government will give relief of ₹25 per liter on petrol for two-wheelers from the state level, its benefit will start from 26 January 2022. In this scheme, a poor family can get this amount up to 10 liters of petrol-diesel per month.
Let us tell you that the Petroleum Dealers Association in Jharkhand is continuously demanding from the government to reduce the VAT rates on petrol and diesel in the state. The association said that VAT should be reduced from 22 percent to 17 percent. This will give relief to the people. Association officials say that in the neighboring states of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar and Odisha, the price of diesel is low.
CM did not reduce VAT rates on diesel, but by reducing VAT on petrol, gave a big relief to BPL card holders. However, this new rule will start in the state from January 26 next year.
