Call of Duty is apparently looking for another historical conflict as a backdrop

New rumors strengthen some initial speculations from the beginning of the year that Call of Duty, planned for 2024, is a new part of the Black Ops series.

The Gulf War will serve as the setting for the new Black Ops.

What is known?

The first reports emerged in February that Treyarch was working on the next Call of Duty under the name Codename Cerberus.

This was followed in July by a Facebook post shared by actor and singer Luke Charles Stafford in which he addressed Black Ops and stated that his look would be used for the new main character “Ratcliff.”

A new report from Windows Central now cites “multiple sources familiar with Activision’s plans.”

The new Black Ops tries to achieve “a nuanced representation of the Gulf War with a critical look at the various participants in the conflict”.

At the same time, one wants to deal with the end of the Cold War era and the resulting consequences. Of course, returning to this time period also means using “more traditional military combat technologies and black ops gadgets”.

The title also contains the “longest development time that Treyarch has ever put into a Call of Duty whose development they led”.

It will probably be a long time before we officially hear more about the next Call of Duty, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was recently released.
