The city will now have a mobile forensic investigation van equipped with modern equipment to collect evidence related to crimes at the scene itself. All types of evidence can be collected from the crime scene by means of van-mounted devices. Chandigarh Police has procured a mobile forensic van from National Forensic Scientific University, Gujarat. UT Administrator and Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit flagged off the Mobile Forensic Investigation Van during a program organized at Chandigarh Secretariat in Sector-9 on Tuesday. 14 forensic consultants have also been appointed to work in the van. Apart from this he also flagged off an armored vehicle, jammer and water cannon. He also handed over appointment letter for the post of constable to the dependents of 5 deceased officers of Chandigarh Police. A jammer vehicle has been taken for the VIP security unit of the police. While an armored vehicle has been taken for the operation cell of Chandigarh Police.
On this occasion, Advisor to Administrator Dharmapal, DGP Praveer Ranjan, Mayor Anup Gupta, Home Secretary Nitin Yadav, IGP Raj Kumar Singh, Campus Director, NFSU, Delhi Dr. Top officials of police and administration including East Pokhriyal were present.
This van is equipped with the latest essential investigative materials like Research Microscope, Laptop, Printer, DSLR Camera, Arson Investigation Kit, Packing Collection Kit, Gunshot Residue Kit, Narcotic Detection Kit, Explosive Detection Kit, DNA Collection Kit, Blood Detection Kit, Finger Print Kit is included. A total of 14 kits are provided for on-site analysis of evidence in the van. Inside this van is all the equipment to collect forensic data from any crime scene.
