The court of Kaithal Additional District and Sessions Judge Dr. Gagandeep Kaur Singh has awarded death sentence to a person guilty of raping and then brutally murdering a 7-year-old girl. This is the first such decision in the history of Kaithal that a convict has been given death sentence. The court has also ordered to pay compensation of Rs 30 lakh to the girl’s parents through the District Legal Services Authority. This compensation will be given by the state government. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 13 thousand has also been imposed on the culprits in different crimes. A total of 34 witnesses were presented in the case. After listening carefully to both the sides, ADJ Dr. Gagandeep Kaur Singh found Pawan guilty of rape and murder and in the light of witnesses and evidence, in her 100-page decision, sentenced the culprit to death. While giving the verdict, the court said that a person who commits such a disgusting and heinous act has no right to live.
The special thing about the case was that the police had prepared the challan in just 5 days and presented it in the court. Deputy District Attorney Jai Bhagwan Goyal argued the case on behalf of the complaining party. Jai Bhagwan Goyal told that on October 8 last year, in a village of Kalayat police station area, the culprit Pawan seduced a 7-year-old girl studying in the second class and took him with himself. When the girl did not return home, a search for her was started and a case of kidnapping was registered at Kalayat police station. The next day at 3 pm the girl’s half-burnt body was found in the nearby forests. Police called the forensic team on the spot. Pawan was detained in this regard because this young man was seen in the CCTV footage taking the girl with him on Saturday.
During interrogation, Pawan revealed the entire incident. He told that after raping the girl, she was murdered. After the incident, the girl’s body was sprinkled with oil and burnt in order to destroy the evidence. After this, a case of murder and rape was registered against Pawan. The police arrested Pawan and handed him over to the court.
