Joe Blackburn has announced his future departure from Bungie.
Blackburn joined Bungie in 2015 as a raid designer, but left the company in 2019 to join Riot.
In 2020 he returned to Bungie to become game director, being mainly responsible for The Witch Queen, Eclipse and The Final Form, the last three expansions of the Destiny 2 Light and Dark saga.
Blackburn will leave his position in February after one of the important testing phases of The Final Form to begin another study that he has not detailed.

He will leave his position to Tyson Green, a Bungie veteran who joined the company in 1999. Green was one of the key names in Halo’s PvP and lead designer of Destiny 1 and 2, where he was, for example, responsible for the creation of exotic weapons. .
Bungie recently delayed the date of The Final Form a few weeks after announcing the layoffs of a hundred employees.
A report published in December indicated that some workers were concerned about the future of the studio and indicated that if its financial situation did not improve, Sony could take control of the board.
Destiny 2: The Final Form will launch on June 4 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
