In the past period, several questions came to Israeli minds regarding Israel’s defensive capabilities and chances of surviving possible missile attacks with the escalation of tension on the northern front with Lebanon.

Despite the presence of air defense systems that Israel relies on in the event of attacks, whether by missiles or drones, the infrastructure is prepared to protect citizens through shelters.

Shelters in Israel are divided into three designs, including the “Mamad”, which is a fortified room inside each residential apartment, the “Mamak”, which is a fortified room inside the residential building, and the “Mikelet”, which is a fortified room on the streets and roads.

Most shelters consist of rooms fortified with reinforced concrete, a steel door, and ventilation systems.
