Vaccination of 12-15 year olds may start from March- Dr. NK Arora

In view of the increasing cases of Corona and Omicron, the vaccination of children between 12 and 14 years of age against corona can start from March. NTAGI President Dr. NK Arora has said on Monday.

Preparations are being made to increase the scope of the vaccine available to persons below the age of 15 to 18 years as the only treatment for corona at this time is being considered as the vaccine itself.

Dr. NK Arora, President of India’s National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), working against Corona, has said that the vaccination of children in the age group of 12-14 can start in India from March because by then 15- The population over the age of 18 is likely to be fully vaccinated.

According to PTI, he told that out of an estimated 7.4 crore population in the 15-18 age group, more than 3.45 crore have received the first dose of Covaccine so far and its second dose is due in 28 days.

He said, “Adolescents in this age group are actively participating in the vaccination process and considering this pace of vaccination, the remaining beneficiaries in the 15-18 age group are likely to be covered with the first dose by the end of January. And after that, his second dose is expected by the end of February.

Once the 15-18 age group vaccination is completed, the government can take a policy decision in March to start the 12-14 age group vaccination campaign. There is an estimated population of 7.5 crores in the 12-14 age group, Dr. NK Arora.
