Electric bike: There is a new Cowboy not in town, the Cross

With its suspension systems, large tires and powerful battery, the Cross is the manufacturer’s first all-road bike.

Cowboy wants to think outside the box. With its new Cross, the Brussels brand shows the most significant evolution of its bikes since its creation. With this all-terrain model, your playground will no longer just be the city. For this, the manufacturer has revised its design from top to bottom.

The first big novelty is certainly the inverted fork mounted on this VAE, when no other in the range had one until now. Designed by Cowboy, it completely follows the brand’s aesthetic canons. At the rear, a suspended seat post was chosen to provide more comfort on dirt roads or roads full of potholes. The cyclist can also count on large 60 mm tires to support these two suspension systems.

Same engine, but new algorithms

On the technological side, it is the same rear hub motor as the other models in the range which equips this Cross. With a power of 250 W and a torque of 45 Nm, we hope that it will be sufficient for this bike, which is heavier than its predecessors (27 kg compared to 19 for the Classic). Cowboy claims that this will be the case thanks to a reprogramming of its algorithms which have proven themselves so far.

In terms of accessories, the Cross is equipped as standard with a solid luggage rack molded in a single piece of aluminum, an option on the rest of the range. Large notched and perforated pedals complete the package, to prevent slipping and to prevent any residue collected off-road from accumulating there.

Battery made in Denmark

With this greater weight, the manufacturer has also thought about improving its battery. Now manufactured in Denmark, it offers a capacity of 540 Wh compared to 360 on the Classic, Cruiser and Cruiser ST, with a promise of autonomy ranging from 60 to 120 kilometers depending on the conditions of use.

The dedicated application has also undergone some changes, with the addition of Lives Challenges. During a ride, the cyclist will be asked to take on fun challenges, such as pedaling as hard as possible for one minute to beat other Cowboy bike owners in the community.

The Cowboy Cross will be available in three colors (lava, mushroom and moss) in open or closed frame version, from March 20 at the launch price of 3,499 euros, before subsequently increasing to 3,999 euros. A big difference compared to the 2,699 euros requested for its three other models which it will have to justify by its performance.
