Government should hand over investigation to High Court Justice, not SIT: Selja – dainiktribuneonline.com

Chandigarh, November 15 (Trinew)

Former Union Minister and National General Secretary of Congress Kumari Selja said that the BJP-JJP coalition government is not serious about the deaths due to poisonous liquor in Yamunanagar and Ambala. Therefore, a pretense is being made to form an SIT and conduct an investigation. If the state government wants to get to the bottom of the poisonous liquor issue, then it should get the continuous deaths investigated by the Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court without any delay. Without investigation by justice, neither the real culprits will be punished nor such incidents will be prevented from happening in future. In a statement issued from Chandigarh on Wednesday, Selja said that in 2020, more than 40 people had lost their lives due to poisonous liquor in Sonipat, Panipat and Faridabad. At that time too, a similar pretense of forming an SIT was created in the name of investigation. After some time, the people of the state forgot so many deaths and now within three years, poisonous liquor has taken the lives of more than 22 people in Yamunanagar and Ambala.

The former Union Minister said that if we look at the tenure of BJP after assuming power in the year 2014 and also the tenure of its ally JJP in the year 2019, then the deaths due to poisonous liquor in the state have set a record.
