Hepatitis B is a serious disease that damages the liver. Around 29 crore people worldwide are suffering from this disease and every year about 8 lakh 87 thousand people die.

According to the study, about 3 crore 70 lakh people in India are carriers of Hepatitis B. But people have less information about this disease and the vaccine given to prevent it.

The study surveyed 3500 people (except doctors and people under 18 years of age). The survey found that only 25% people had correct information about this disease, like how it spreads, how it damages the liver and how important it is to get vaccinated.

Apart from this, only 22.7% people had got complete vaccination against Hepatitis B. Doctor Anil Arora, who conducted the study, says that this vaccination rate is very low, especially considering the disease and the prevention ability of the vaccine. This vaccine is very effective in preventing hepatitis B infection and preventing serious liver damage, such as cirrhosis and liver cancer.

The study also found that vaccination rates are lower among women, less educated people and people living in villages. Dr. Arora says that special programs should be run to spread awareness among the people. It should also be ensured that people get complete vaccination because taking just one or two vaccines does not provide complete protection.
