Shivalik Vikas Manch state president Vijay Bansal hit out at the government for not reaching the apple market established by the Haryana government on the empty land of the HMT Pinjore factory located on the prime location of the Chandigarh-Shimla national highway. The decision of the government is wrong.
Bansal said that the central government’s decision to shut down the HMT tractor Pinjore unit in an unplanned manner in October 2016 has rendered nearly one lakh people unemployed in Pinjore Kalka area. Around 400 small scale industries in entire district Panchkula and Mohali Punjab along with tractor units have been completely shut down, the business of thousands of laborers, shopkeepers and traders dependent on thousands of HMT employees has come to a complete standstill. He said that the Panchkula Market Committee here has taken a loan of 47 crore rupees from other market committees of the state at 8 percent interest and constructed the Apple Mandi. Now in this market there are no traders coming nor farmers coming so the market committee is not getting any income now the market committee has no money even to pay the interest of the loan taken by it.
Bansal said that the BJP government had claimed that more than 10 thousand people would get employment after the establishment of Apple Mandi here, which has now been proved completely wrong. He sent a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister of Heavy Industries, Government of India, and Industries Minister Haryana Government and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala to build the village on the land acquired by Milk and Mohabbatpur in 1962 for industrial use. Demand for re-operation of HMT tractor unit and setting up other industries on vacant land, as well as inquiry into the wrong decision of HMT to develop apple mandi by making land acquisition of 78 acres of land without CLU for industrial use only. It has also been demanded that the industrial training center of HMT be given the status of a technical university.
