I read somewhere that when dengue spreads, it destroys some organ or the other, is this correct?
Yes, it is not like that at all.
Your information is incorrect. Dengue is a disease in which the platelets in our body start breaking down and as the outbreak of the virus increases, the platelets sometimes become so low that internal bleeding starts in the person’s body due to which the blood pressure of the person is not maintained. In such a situation the person goes into shock and dies.
But it is very rare that a person infected with dengue dies. In most cases, after 2 to 3 days of platelet deficiency, the body starts making new platelets rapidly. After which the body again comes to normal state.
But due to dengue, it has been observed in most of the patients that they experience some weakness, pain in legs etc. for 2 to 3 months, which is usually cured by the use of Vitamin E and Vitamin D. Stay away from any such misconception. .
