Increasing screen time of children is a concern of 89 percent mothers: Survey report

New Delhi . 89 percent of Indian mothers are worried about children’s screen time (duration of watching mobile, television, tab, laptop etc.). This has come to light in a report released on Sunday.

For this report released on Mother’s Day by market research company TechArk, a survey was conducted among 600 working mothers who have at least one child studying in class 3 to 10.

In this, women were asked about their concerns, challenges, interest and preferences in the digital ecosystem.

“Mothers believe that increased screen time affects their children’s education and has a negative impact on their mental and social health,” the report said.

The report said that the biggest concerns of mothers are privacy (81 percent), inappropriate content (72 percent), teenage influencers (45 percent) and deep fakes (26 percent).

He believes that in the future, deep fakes and Gen AI will become a bigger concern for parents. Talking about devices, the biggest concern for the future is VR headsets, especially after the launch of Apple Vision Pro.

However, mothers also admitted that the digital world is more useful and relevant for children today compared to five years ago.

According to the report, more than 60 percent of mothers spend 51-85 percent of the amount they spend on buying things for their children on online shopping. At the same time, in the case of 20 percent digital savvy women, this figure is more than 85 percent. She does most of the shopping for her children on Amazon, orders food on Swiggy and entertainment packages on Disney Hotstar.
