IPL 2022: Hardik Pandya eyeing a hat-trick win, the challenge of Livingstone and Rabada in front of him

Mumbai. The team of Gujarat Titans will take on Punjab Kings on Friday in a match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). This match is to be played at the Brabourne Stadium, where a lot of runs are scored. Punjab has shown the effort to set the direction of the innings by batting vigorously during the powerplay in their first three matches. In this match, a tough fight can be seen between Liam Livingstone and New Zealand’s experienced fast bowler Lockie Ferguson. For Livingstone, the team spent the most amount in the IPL auction. Gujarat has won both the matches played so far. On the other hand, Punjab has won 2 out of 3 matches.

Ferguson, who intimidated Mandeep Singh of Delhi Capitals with his speed and bounce, would like to do this this time against Livingstone. Livingstone played an inning of 60 runs in 32 balls while blazing the bowlers of Chennai Super Kings. In the first 2 weeks of the current IPL season, the fast bowling pair of Mohammed Shami and Ferguson has proved to be the most effective. Punjab head coach Anil Kumble would like to devise a strategy to keep the team under control during the powerplay overs.

Weakness seen in Gujarat’s batting

Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya is again bowling with full force and the speed of his balls is reaching 140. Gujarat’s attack is getting stronger with the presence of a spinner like Rashid Khan. The weak link of the team though is the batting. Except Shubman Gill and Pandya, no one else is able to score runs. For Punjab, experienced opener Shikhar Dhawan and captain Agarwal have not contributed significantly so far. In such a situation, they would like to gain momentum against Gujarat.

Punjab’s middle order strong

For Punjab, Bhanuka Rajapakse, Livingstone and newcomer Jitesh Sharma have been doing well in the middle order, giving Shah Rukh Khan and Odeon Smith a chance to play freely in the last overs. The Punjab batsmen will try to score more runs against Rahul Teotia and Varun Aaron, the weak link in Gujarat’s bowling.

Vijay and Wade have failed

Talking about Gujarat’s batting, Vijay Shankar has failed to impress as a top-order batsman. Matthew Wade is known to play big shots, but he is not in the mood right now. Abhinav Manohar is very new at this stage, while Tewatia and David Miller have consistently failed to deliver. Punjab have two match-winning bowlers in Kagiso Rabada and leg-spinner Rahul Chahar, but Arshdeep Singh, season debutante Vaibhav Arora and Livingstone also did a commendable job against Chennai.

Both teams are as follows

Punjab Kings: Mayank Agarwal (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Jonny Bairstow, Rahul Chahar, Harpreet Brar, Shah Rukh Khan, Prabhsimran Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Ishan Porel, Liam Livingstone, Odeon Smith, Sandeep Sharma, Raj Angad Bawa, Rishi Dhawan, Prerak Mankad, Vaibhav Arora, Hrithik Chatterjee, Baltej Dhanda, Ansh Patel, Nathan Ellis, Atharva Tayde, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Benny Howell.
