Mumbai. Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Umran Malik has remained a topic of discussion due to his fast balls. Head coach Tom Moody said that this youngster from Jammu and Kashmir has been given complete freedom to express himself with the ball. The 22-year-old bowler from Srinagar has consistently bowled at a speed of 145 to 150 kmph in IPL 2022. He bowled the fastest delivery in IPL history against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, reaching a speed of 153.1 kmph. But he has conceded a lot of runs during this period. He has taken 5 wickets giving 173 runs in 5 matches.
Tom Moody, however, is not worried about Umran Malik giving away more runs. He said, ‘After all, when you bowl at 150 kmph in this format, you cannot expect that you will not score runs. He gives a lot of runs behind the wicket. But it is not that shots are being fired on him everywhere on the field. That’s why you have to accept his style of bowling. His role is to express himself by running and bowling his style.
Shreyas Iyer was bowled
“We accept that the way he bowls, he will score runs, but we want to see him take wickets. Against KKR, Umran Malik bowled Shreyas Iyer while bowling at a speed of 148 kmph. After this wicket, bowling coach Dale Steyn jumped from his chair. Hyderabad won this match by 7 wickets. The team has won 3 out of 5 matches so far.
IPL 2022 Explainer: Deepak Chahar out of IPL, yet he will get full 14 crores, know why?
Great bowling against KKR
Tom Moody said that a lot of planning is done before a match against any opponent. I think the emotion that was seen in the dugout reflects the happiness of this young bowler getting the wicket. He bowled brilliantly against KKR and conceded just 27 runs in 4 overs. Not only this, he also took 2 wickets. Before the IPL auction, the team retained him for Rs 4 crore. Talking about his overall T20 career, he has taken 16 wickets in 13 matches. His best performance is 4 wickets for 22 runs. Economy is around 9.
