Shocking report about corruption and match fixing in cricket
A total of 13 matches in 2022 under doubt, revealed in Sportradar’s review report
New Delhi. Is match fixing still going on in cricket? At least that’s what a recent report seems to suggest. In a review report released by Sportradar Integrity Services, it has been revealed that 13 competitive cricket matches played around the world in 2022 were such that they are under suspicion.
The Sportradar Integrity Services Unit is an international team of experts who analyze betting, match-fixing and other forms of corruption in sports. The 28-page report titled ‘Betting, corruption and match-fixing’ said that in the calendar year 2022, there were 1212 matches in 12 sporting events in 92 countries that were suspected. The company uses an application Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS) to detect suspicious activity during the match.
According to the report, there can be corruption in 775 matches in football. Basketball is second in this list, with 220 matches questionable, while 75 matches of lawn tennis have been questioned.
Interestingly, there were only 13 matches in cricket in 12 sports, in which things like fixing or corruption may have allegedly happened. Due to which this game is at the sixth place in the list. It has been claimed in the report that these 13 cricket matches can be the maximum for the game in a year.

However, there continues to be a relatively small number of questionable matches in many sports, the report said. But 13 cricket matches being suspected is the highest annual figure recorded by ‘Sportradar Integrity Services’. Handball and futsal have also recorded the most questionable matches ever.
