Jofra Archer is not playing in IPL-2022, then why did the coach take his name after Mumbai’s 5th defeat?

New Delhi. The winning account of the Mumbai Indians team in the 15th season of IPL (IPL-2022) has not been opened yet. The team had to face defeat in 5 consecutive matches so far. Mumbai, the most successful team of IPL, is sometimes lagging behind in batting and sometimes the bowlers are not able to put pressure on the opposition team. Team coach Mahela Jayawardene also accepted this. Not only this, he also took the name of Jofra Archer who is out of the whole season.

Jofra Archer was bought by Mumbai Indians in the mega auction for a whopping amount of Rs 8 crore but he will not be able to play this season. He has been troubled for a long time due to his elbow injury. He was also ruled out of the ODI series against India due to injury and then could not be a part of IPL-2021. Rajasthan had again released him.

44-year-old coach Mahela Jayawardene said after Mumbai’s defeat against Punjab Kings that the lack of Archer is hurting the team. Jayawardene said that Mumbai’s bowling unit is unable to sustain the pressure on the batsmen of the opposition team. Mumbai won the toss in their last match played on Wednesday but the Punjab batsmen scored 198 runs in 20 overs. After this, Mumbai team could score 186 runs for 9 wickets and lost the match by 12 runs.

Jayawardene said, “Definitely, the best bowler we bought for us in the auction, Jofra Archer, is not here. So when you are in that situation it is difficult but we are trying how well we handle it.
