After the election defeat in Karnataka, BJP and JDS have once again suffered a major setback. More than 15 prominent leaders and former councilors from both parties joined the Congress in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar at an event organized in Bengaluru on Friday. The ceremony was organized at the Bharat Jodo Auditorium of the Congress office.

Prominent leaders joining Congress include former Deputy Mayor L. Srinivas, Prasad Babu and former taluk panchayat member Anjinappa. Shivakumar gave him Congress flags and welcomed him into the party. After joining Congress, Srinivas said that he worked for BJP for 33 years, but did not get respect in the party. Now we will strengthen Congress.

Speaking on the occasion, DK Shivakumar said that BJP and JDS leaders from Padmanabhanagar constituency, who acted as a major force behind gaining power in Bengaluru Municipal Corporation, are now with the Congress. BJP leaders did not treat them well and now they are knocking on our doors.

Shivakumar openly said that he would take steps to strengthen the party. He is working towards winning the upcoming Bruhat Bengaluru Municipal Corporation (BBMP) elections and Lok Sabha elections. This is the third major operation conducted by the Congress, after involving BJP and JDS leaders from Yeshwanthpur and RR Nagar constituencies in Bengaluru. Sources say that DK Shivkumar is talking to more than 20 MLAs of BJP and JDS and very soon these leaders may join Congress.
