Chandigarh, 5th September (Trinew)

The BJP-JJP coalition government led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will now also give reservation to transgenders in government jobs and admissions in educational institutions. It has largely been decided. Regarding this issue, the State Backward Commission is directly communicating with this category of people and taking suggestions. The commission will soon submit its recommendations to the government. Commission Chairman Justice (Retired) Darshan Singh along with Commission members Dr. SK Gakkah and Shyamalal Jangra held a meeting with the District Social Welfare Officers and transgender community through video conferencing and asked them for their suggestions regarding reservation. Transgender Tejsya Mahant of Bhiwani suggested that transgenders should get all the facilities on the same lines as every male and female gets government facilities. It is a good initiative of the government to give reservation to this category. Sarthak Sharma of Faridabad, Lakshya of Charkhi Dadri, Gur Anjaan Singh of Gurugram said that information about transgender should be given in the school curriculum from the beginning to bring about a change in the mindset of the people towards transgender. It takes many years for universities to correct names in transgender certificates. Section-6 certificate is available in district office, but section-7 certificate is available with delay. When an application is made for a government job, their application is cancelled.
