Larian confirms that he is not going to make Baldur’s Gate 4, nor expansions for 3

The director of Larian Studios and Baldur’s Gate 3, Swen Vincke, held a talk at the GDC (Game Developers Conference) titled “the secrets of Baldur’s Gate 3”. In it, he has confirmed that Larian is not interested in creating DLC or expansions for Baldur’s Gate 3, nor does she plan to participate in the development of a possible Baldur’s Gate 4.

“We are not a company that is made to create DLCs or expansions. We have tried that a few times, and it has failed every time. It is not worth it. Life is very short and our ambitions are very big.”

“We’re always going to be proud of it,” Vincke said, referring to Baldur’s Gate 3, “but we’re not going to continue it. We’re not going to make expansions, which is what everyone is expecting us to do. We’re going to leave it behind. “We’re not going to do Baldur’s Gate 3, which is what everyone is expecting us to do. We’re going to leave it behind. We’re going to leave Dungeons and Dragons behind and start doing something new.”

Relatively recently, this past January, Vincke already hinted on his Twitter account that the studio was working on its next project. Specifically, he stated that he had already finished the first draft of the first act of his next title.

For the rest, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to achieve success wherever it goes. Last year in our review, we gave it a Must See label, saying, “With modern sensibility, old-school design, and a style that lives up to its name, Baldur’s Gate 3 achieves everything it sets out to do.”
