Two Samajwadi Party (SP) candidates have filed nominations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Rampur and Moradabad seats in Uttar Pradesh, creating confusion about the party’s authorized candidate. At both the places, both the candidates of the party are claiming that they are the authorized candidates of SP. However, nothing has been said officially about this from the party. Meanwhile, there is news that current SP MP ST Hasan, who has filed nomination from Moradabad, has agreed to withdraw his nomination.

In fact, in Rampur, where Asim Raja, who had previously contested the Lok Sabha by-election, has filed his nomination calling himself an SP candidate, Muhibullah Nadvi has also filed his nomination making the same claim. On the other hand, nomination of party leader Ruchi Veera as SP candidate in Moradabad has created confusion. Earlier on Tuesday, sitting SP MP from Moradabad S. T. Hasan had also filed nomination as SP candidate.

According to sources, Asim Raza, who filed nomination from Rampur Lok Sabha seat, is considered close to former MP Azam Khan. He claimed that he is the authorized candidate of SP. On the other hand, Imam of a mosque in Delhi, Muhibullah Nadvi also filed his nomination as SP candidate from Rampur seat. He said that SP President Akhilesh Yadav is making him contest the elections and he is the authorized candidate of the party.

On the other hand, after ST Hasan, party leader Ruchi Veera filed nomination from Moradabad Lok Sabha seat. Talking to reporters, she said that the party leadership has given her the ticket and hence she has come to file nomination. Ruchi Veera is also considered close to senior SP leader Azam Khan. Today is the last day of nomination for the elections of Rampur and Moradabad Lok Sabha seats.
