Morocco-Liberia suspended after earthquake

The match on the last day of the qualifying phase for the Africa Cup 2024 scheduled for this Saturday between Morocco and Liberia in the Moroccan town of Agadir was postponed due to the consequences of the devastating earthquake that the entity suffered this morning, confirmed the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FMRF).

According to the federation body, the match was suspended in agreement with the African Football Confederation.

“After this great disaster, the Moroccan football family extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and wishes a speedy recovery to all the injured“said the FMRF.

At least 1,037 people have died and another 1,204 have been injured due to the earthquake magnitude 7 on the Richter scale recorded in the Moroccan province of Al Hauz, as reported by the country’s Ministry of the Interior.
