Chandigarh, 30 September (Trinew)
Aam Aadmi Party’s Senior Vice President Anurag Dhanda has targeted the Khattar government for purchasing millet and paddy in the mandis of the state at prices lower than the MSP. He said that despite the announcement of procurement, government agencies have not yet started purchasing millet and paddy in most of the mandis of the state. Farmers’ crops are not being purchased saying that 70 percent of the crop’s quality is bad.
On the other hand, in the markets where procurement has started, the rates are less than the minimum support price i.e. MSP. Against the MSP of Rs 2,200, private traders are purchasing millet at the rate of Rs 1,900 per quintal. MSP has become another election slogan for BJP. He said that the price of millet is Rs 1,900 per quintal against the MSP amount of Rs 2,500, due to which the farmers are upset. Dhanda said private agencies were purchasing Basmati rice at the rate of Rs 3,000 per quintal.
In this way, there is a huge difference in the rates of millet and Basmati rice. Farmers are troubled by this. He also targeted the arrangements of the markets.
