Nathan Lyon creates history against Sri Lanka, breaks Kapil Dev’s record by taking 9 wickets

New Delhi. Australia defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the first match of the two Test matches on the basis of legendary off-spinner Nathan Lyon. On the third day of the Galle Test, Sri Lanka set a target of just 4 runs for Australia to win. Australia has achieved this target in just 4 balls. In the Galle Test, the Sri Lankan team bowed down to the Australian bowlers in both the innings. Sri Lanka’s team was reduced to 212 runs in the first innings and just 110 runs in the second innings. The Sri Lankan batsman looked helpless in front of Lion. Lion hunted five Sri Lankan players in the first innings and four in the second innings. Along with this, Lion has also left behind India’s great all-rounder Kapil Dev.

Apart from Lion, the late Shane Warne (708 wickets) and Glenn McGrath (563) are included in the list of highest wicket-takers in Test cricket. In this list, Warne is second and McGrath is at number 5.

Lion has a chance to overtake Dale Steyn in the second test match
Lion now has a chance to overtake former South African pacer Dale Steyn and Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the second Test. Dale Steyn has 439 wickets in 93 Test matches while Ashwin has taken 442 wickets in 86 Test matches. Ashwin is at number eight and Steyn is at number 9. If Ravichandran Ashwin also enters the 5th Test against England, then he also has a chance to increase the number of wickets.
