Not only Putin and Jinping, even these two big leaders will not come to India; Know what is the reason?

G20 Summit 2023 Update: India is all set to host the G20 summit starting on Saturday 9th September. It is being held in India at a time when the world is facing many complex challenges, including concerns of the “Global South”, the outcome of the Ukraine war, the gloomy economic outlook, etc.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and other leaders of the G20 group as well as key world bodies such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) The Speakers are gathering in the national capital for the summit. While many world leaders are participating in this summit, some big names are missing.

Not only Putin and Jinping, even these two big leaders will not come to India

The heads of state of Russia and China are not attending the G20 summit being held in India’s capital New Delhi. Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the G-20 leaders’ summit. Chinese President Xi Jinping will also not participate in the summit. While Putin has sent Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in his place, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang is coming to India in place of Jinping. Apart from Putin and Jinping, big names like Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez are also not visiting India.

Why doesn’t Mexico President participate in G20?

Amidst all the disruptions, Mexico will not participate in the G20 summit for the fourth consecutive time. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador raised his concerns about inequality at international forums such as the G20 in 2019. Since then, no Mexican president has attended a G20 meeting. From Mexico, Raquel Buenostro Sanchez of the Economy Ministry will be present and has arrived in New Delhi for the summit. Mexico began boycotting the G20 meet in 2019. It first skipped the G20 Summit 2019 in Japan. During a press conference, the Mexican President called for attention to inequality in international forums such as the G20 group.

So why is the Spanish Prime Minister not coming?

Another big name who will be missing from the G20 summit is Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. However, the reason for Sanchez’s absence is Corona virus. Spain’s PM Pedro Sanchez has announced that he has tested Covid-19 positive on Thursday and hence will not be able to attend the G20 summit in New Delhi. President Sanchez said he was feeling “fine”. He said Spain will be represented at the G20 summit by First Vice President Nadia Calvino Santamaria and Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Alberes.

Leaders of the Group of 20 (G20) major economies on Saturday launched an annual summit meeting to coordinate policy on food security, debt problems of vulnerable countries and climate action. Here is a list of some of the prominent leaders who attended and did not attend the meeting.
