Haryana government has made yoga break mandatory in all the universities and colleges of the state. The Director of Higher Education Department issued instructions in this regard to all the universities and colleges of the state on Thursday. The department argues that to improve the work place ecosystem and productivity, instructions have been given to strictly implement yoga breaks.
Apart from the students, some special activities will also be conducted for the professors and other employees during the yoga break. Only those Yogasanas have been included in it, which can be easily completed in 5-10 minutes at the workplace.
Some of these activities can be done while sitting on a chair, while some can be done while standing there. The purpose behind yoga break is to ensure that teachers and employees are free from work pressure and can remain stress-free and concentrate on their work. The Union Ministry of AYUSH in collaboration with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi has developed a break protocol consisting of useful yoga practices. Before the Higher Education Department in Haryana, the State Director General, AYUSH has also asked government departments to implement yoga breaks to promote healthy living.
Policy being made for government offices: The government is preparing to implement ‘Yoga Break’ in all the government offices of the state to improve the work efficiency of the employees. State AYUSH Minister Anil Vij has said that the implementation of the new protocol will go a long way in improving the efficiency of the staff.
