Old friend breaks silence on Dhoni’s retirement from IPL, makes big claim about future

It is being said that IPL 2023 is going to be Dhoni’s last season.
However, no confirmation has been made regarding this from Dhoni or CSK.

New Delhi. Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson feels that Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) can play for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) for the next three-four seasons. Despite not playing any competitive cricket other than the IPL, Dhoni has kept himself extremely fit. He announced his international retirement in 2020 and since then he is playing only in IPL. Watson shared the dressing room with Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings for three seasons and played a key role in the 2018 title win.

Shane Watson said that he has heard that IPL 2023 could be Dhoni’s last, but he feels that the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman is fit enough to play for the next three-four years. Watson told news agency ANI, “I have heard that this is MS Dhoni’s last IPL, but I do not think so. MS Dhoni can continue playing for the next three to four years. He is still very fit and his batting and wicketkeeping is really good.

Shane Watson said, “His leadership is something that is as good as his game. His fitness and ability to understand the game makes him a good leader. His skill on the field is amazing. He is one of the main reasons why CSK is successful.

The veteran all-rounder recalled the incident when Dhoni got emotional during a team celebration after CSK returned to the IPL after serving a two-year ban. Watson said, “There was a moment when MS Dhoni got up and spoke at our first team function. You can see how much it meant to him, he got emotional about how much it meant to him to be back for CSK.
