Pogba tests positive in anti-doping test

MADRID, September 12 (.) –

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been provisionally suspended by the Italian National Anti-Doping Court after testing positive for testosterone in an anti-doping test, the Italian club confirmed this Monday.

The French international tested positive for testosterone in a random anti-doping test after the ‘Vecchia Signora’ match against Udinese in Serie A on August 20, in which he was a substitute.

After the Italian anti-doping body confirmed the player’s suspension in a statement published this Monday, Juventus assured that the club must assess “the next procedural steps.” If he is found guilty of doping, Pogba could be banned for between two and four years.

“Juventus announces that today, September 11, 2023, the footballer Paul Labile Pogba has received a precautionary suspension order from the National Anti-Doping Court following the results of the tests carried out on August 20, 2023. The club reserves the right to consider the next procedural steps,” the Turin entity said in a statement.

Previously, the Italian National Anti-Doping Court had confirmed Pogba’s positive result. “The National Anti-Doping Tribunal informs that, in acceptance of the request proposed by the National Anti-Doping Prosecutor, it has ordered the provisional suspension of the athlete Paul Labile Pogba for violation of articles 2.1 and 2.2,” he said.
