Ranji Trophy 2024: Assam counterattacks after UP’s brilliant batting, match heading towards a draw

Akhand Pratap Singh/Kanpur: The third day of the Ranji match between UP and Assam at Greenpark Stadium was in the name of Assam’s batsmen. Assam displayed strong batting and scored 316 runs at the loss of 2 wickets till stumps. It is noteworthy that on the second day of the Ranji match, UP had declared its innings at 548 runs. In response to which, Assam had made a solid start and by the end of the second day’s play, had scored 116 runs without losing any wicket, thanks to opener Pervez Musharraf’s 53 runs and Rahul Hazarika’s 51 runs. Today the Assam team played slowly during the day and scored only 200 runs.

On Sunday, the third day of the Ranji match, the opening pair of Assam, Parvez and Rahul, both scored centuries. While Parvez was out after scoring 129 runs in 295 balls, Rahul scored 128 runs in 265 balls. Both the batsmen have been dismissed by Shivam Sharma. Abhishek and Rishabh remain on the field. By the end of the third day’s play, Assam team has scored 316 runs in 113 overs, while only two wickets have fallen for Assam. Eight wickets are still in the hands of Assam.

Match heading towards a draw
This match going on between Uttar Pradesh and Assam is in the name of the batsmen. Where in the first innings, Uttar Pradesh team had declared an innings of 548 runs. In which Aryan and Karan had scored double centuries, while Assam also made a strong start and scored 316 runs with 8 wickets remaining. Two batsmen from Assam team have also scored centuries. Because of which the team is in a strong position. Tomorrow is the last day of the match and the match seems to be a draw.
