Renowned litterateur Gopichand Narang has passed away. He was 91 years old. Narang, who had been ill for some time, breathed his last in North Carolina, USA. Narang, who studied at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, was also awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award and Padma Bhushan.
According to the BBC, Narang was born on February 11, 1931 in Duki, British India, which is now in Balochistan, Pakistan. There is no respect in Urdu which he has not received. It is said that he did not get the same honor as he himself was on the jury in which Jnanpith is at the top. He also received Pakistan’s highest award Sitara-e Imtiaz. Gopichand has authored 57 books, including books in Hindi, English and Urdu languages.
