The popular Roblox platform, where you can develop, share and play games with other users, is finally coming to the PlayStation. And even next month, as you can see in the PlayStation state of Play.
Roblox has finally convinced Sony – but how?
Roblox will be released on the PlayStation 4 on October 10th. It is still unclear whether this delayed launch also applies to the PlayStation 5. In the State of Play you can see the announcement at minute 3:20.
The delay came about because PlayStation’s Jim Ryan had concerns about Roblox, which is particularly popular with children. According to an Axios article, Ryan was careful with Roblox because there are millions of young users and the platform offers many opportunities to exploit them. A controversy that has been following Roblox for a long time.
However, Ryan is hopeful that this situation will change and he also hinted that the company’s stance on the game has changed as a result. And how it has that. At least Sony is now integrating the game onto their consoles.
As recently published figures show, the platform’s users are also getting older. In 2022, 38 percent of all Roblox users were over 17 years old. And the user numbers are also impressive. According to a showcase, Roblox reported around 250 million monthly users earlier this year – that’s 3.5 times as many as Fortnite and 2.5 times as many as Minecraft. Those are some very good arguments.
Players were able to use Roblox on Xbox as early as 2015; the platform was previously released for PC, Android and iOS.
