SCJN orders that Luis Enrique Orozco take office in NL

The Supreme Court detailed that the governability and security of Luis Enrique Orozco must be guaranteed for the period granted in the license.

The governance crises in Nuevo León had a turning point this Friday night when the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation ordered that Deputy Attorney General Luis Enrique Orozco assume ownership of the state Executive in the absence of leave from the Emecista Samuel García.

The highest court in the country determined that “what is appropriate is that the local Executive Branch or any of its agencies allow an effective takeover of the citizen appointed as interim Governor.”

The Supreme Court detailed that the governability and security of Luis Enrique Orozco must be guaranteed for the period granted in the license.

In the same statement, it was reported that any authority must refrain from making a new designation of the ownership of the Executive regardless of its name “until the present constitutional controversy is definitively resolved.”

The resolution came minutes before García Sepúlveda’s license for pre-campaign events with a view to the 2024 elections came back into force.
