NY.- Sergio Pérez has taken the right direction to fight for the championship in the 2023 Formula One season.
The slight changes that were made to the RB19 promise more internal competition in the Red Bull team between Max Verstappen and Checo, since the most important thing is the adaptation in the first races.
The Mexican showed last year that he can catch up with his teammate as long as his driving style and the evolution of the car complement each other, as well as finding the ideal configuration depending on the circuits (street or permanent).
“We’ve learned from mistakes because sometimes we went wrong in the direction of the setup. And that’s very important for us to understand. I think we realized towards the end of the season what we were doing with the car. So that’s been crucial for us, I think we are now heading in the right direction.
“There are things that we are going to work on. I have been pushing it in a certain direction. And we think we are going in that direction. But we’ll see. Once we have the car it’s about adapting to the car and trying to maximize it,” commented the Guadalajara after the presentation of his new car in New York.
Once the fight with his garage partner has been fought, the next step is to compete with Ferrari and Mercedes and not neglect the teams that promise, such as McLaren and Alpine.
“What we saw from Mercedes towards the end of the year, there will be very strong competition, because also Ferrari will be pushing. You know, I think the competition will be very high in the season. And I hope that three of the teams in the middle can give a step forward. So I think there will definitely be a lot more competition this year,” said the tricolor pilot, who will start his 13th campaign in the Top Category.
