Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello legalize their divorce seven months after their breakup

Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello have formalized their divorce, seven months after announcing their breakup.

The former couple, who was married for seven years, completed their divorce proceedings on April 4, according to court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight. According to the report, Vergara and Manganiello’s marriage was dissolved, officially ending their relationship and making them legally single.

The news comes two months after both decided to end the relationship amicably. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Vergara and Manganiello agreed to “keep the assets they individually obtained over the course of their seven years together.” The filing also notes that they did not have to worry about “support,” since “they both waived any right to alimony.”

In July 2023, representatives of the former couple issued a statement to Page Six about their separation.

“We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” said Vergara and Manganiello. “As two people who love and care for each other very much, we ask that you respect our privacy as we go through this new stage of our lives,” they continued.

Days later, Manganiello officially filed for divorce from his ex-partner, alleging that the reason for the breakup was their “irreconcilable differences,” according to records obtained by People in July. The actor registered the separation on July 2, 2023 and assured that they had a prenuptial agreement.

According to Entertainment Tonightthe star of Modern Family and her attorney, Troy Christiansen, later filed legal documents to enforce the prenuptial agreement, ensuring that she ended the relationship with her own assets and earnings intact.

In January, Vergara also revealed why the marriage came to an end. During an interview for The country, the actress said: “I am recently divorced from my second husband, with whom I was 10 years.” And then she continued: “The marriage ended because my husband was younger than me and he wanted to have children, but I didn’t want to be a mother at this age.”
