Stib highlights the ten most problematic metro stations in Brussels: “The situation is serious”

“The situation is serious”Elke Van den Brandt admitted, according to Sudinfo. “There are ten to twelve stations where we see the most problems”, affirmed the minister, specifying that patrols are present on site seven days a week and concentrate on the most problematic places in the Stib network. According to our colleagues, the first ten problem stations are as follows: Yser, Gare du Midi, Ribaucourt, Porte de Namur, Botanique, Bourse, Anneessens, Hôtel des Monnaies, Trône and Parc. But this list will evolve depending on what is observed.

In addition to these teams which patrol every day, the Stib also participates in the SubLink project which brings together several associations with the aim of acting in problem areas, with a social and security approach. A project that has shown good results in recent months. Moreover, “Stib aims to establish its mobile emergency teams in the second half of 2024, so that they are fully operational in September”, Elke Van den Brandt said Tuesday in committee. Twenty additional security agents have also normally been hired by the Stib in recent weeks.

“When we open the gates of the metro stations at 6 a.m., we find syringes, excrement, it smells of urine: these are lawless zones”
