The Election Commission has taken seriously the low voting percentage at many places in the first and second phase of elections. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, around 70 percent voting took place in ten seats of Haryana. This time there is an attempt to increase it to 75 percent. Due to this, a new scheme has been started by the Haryana Election Commission. School children have been involved with this initiative so that they can compel parents to vote.

Under the scheme, school children will go to the polling booth with their parents. After voting, they will upload their selfie with blue ink on the finger. After voting, District Election Officers will conduct draws in all the districts. After this, cash rewards will be given at the district level. The first winner will be given a cash prize of Rs 10,000, the second will be given Rs 5,000 and the third will be given Rs 2,500. Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Aggarwal gave this information here on Thursday.

Under this initiative, the school whose students upload the most selfies in the district will be given a special prize of Rs 25,000. To upload the selfie, a link has been generated on the official email of the Chief Electoral Officer. This link will open on voting day i.e. 25th May. Voting will start from 7 am and selfies can be uploaded along with it. Selfies can be uploaded till 8 pm.

Aggarwal said that the aim of this initiative is not only to increase the voting percentage this time but also to make school children, who will become future voters, aware of their voting rights from now on.
