Tesla launches Cybertruck, range up to 720 kilometers

Tesla, one of the major electric vehicle (EV) companies, has launched Cybertruck after waiting for a few years. This electric pick-up truck was introduced by the company’s CEO, Elon Musk about four years ago. Tesla has handed over its initial units to customers.

However, the price of Tesla’s Cybertruck is higher than expected. Its total output when activating its beast mode is 845 hp. The company has said that it can reach a speed of 60 mph in 6.5 seconds. It has the capacity to carry cargo up to 6,500 kg. The range of Cybertruck on a full charge is 550 km to 720 km depending on the variant. Tesla aims to deliver 10,000 units of Cybertruck by the end of this year. Its price was estimated to be around $40,000. However, it is much more than that.

The Cybertruck will compete with the GMC Hummer EV and Ford F-150 Lightning. Recently, company chief Elon Musk had said that increasing the production of Cybertruck is a big challenge. Customers will have to wait a long time for its delivery. Tesla is preparing to launch fully autonomous vehicles by the end of this year. The company has been developing this technology for the last few years. Earlier, Musk had failed to meet his deadline to introduce fully autonomous self-driving vehicles.

Tesla has started talks with the central government on an investment proposal to set up a factory in India. The annual capacity of Tesla’s factory will be about five lakh units. Prices of the company’s electric cars made in India can start from Rs 20 lakh. It also plans to make India a base for exports. A few months ago, Musk had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in America. In this meeting, Modi encouraged Musk to invest in India. After this Musk had said that he is considering investing in the country as soon as possible. Tesla has initially requested the government for exemption in import tariff so that it can reduce the burden of 70 percent customs duty on import of Completely Built Unit (CBU) cars.
