Chandigarh, November 1 (Trinew)
The appearance of roads in Haryana will change further. The roads damaged due to rain and floods will now be repaired afresh. Broken roads will also be repaired and expanded. The government has fixed a budget of Rs 3700 crore for the repair, expansion and carpeting etc. of roads belonging to the PWD (Buildings and Roads) department. Its approval has been received from the Finance Department and now the department will soon issue tenders for the roads.
On the other hand, the Marketing Board has also started repairing the damaged roads. The government has also instructed urban local bodies – municipal corporations, city councils and municipalities to repair roads damaged due to rain. If there is a need to reconstruct the roads, then a proposal should be prepared and sent so that it can be approved. According to the rules, carpeting of roads is required after three to three and a half years. Keeping this in mind, the PWD department has also included such roads in its plan, which have been constructed for three to five years.
PWD Minister and Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala says that before the upcoming elections, damaged roads will be repaired and old roads will be constructed afresh. He says that there are hundreds of roads which have been constructed for a long time. The condition of these roads is not very bad, but considering the possibility of heavy traffic and possibility of rain in future, these roads will be rebuilt. Hundreds of roads have been identified in the state which will be constructed afresh. These will also expand.
