They accuse ‘The Crown’ of falsifying the relationship between Lady Di and Dodi Al-Fayed

The sixth and final season of The Crown It is causing controversy, just hours after its premiere. The Netflix production has become a fictional series with clear glimpses of reality about the British monarchy and the reign of Elizabeth II.

On this occasion, fans of the late Princess Diana have unleashed fury on social networks, after the production assured that the romance between Lady Di and Dodi Al-Fayed, an Egyptian businessman and film producer, was fabricated by the father of the latter in order to obtain British nationality.

This theory is not new. The version circulated during 1997 and Michael Cole, former spokesperson for Al-Fayed, denied the facts. In interview with deadlineassured: “Netflix and the production company describe The Crown as dramatized fiction and I’m not going to disagree with that definition. That means it’s made up.”

And he added that Al-Fayed’s father was an “extraordinary man” and was “delighted” that his son and Lady Di were together. “Make two people fall in love? “That goes beyond his great talents,” he commented to Deadline.

Below there is spoilers of the new season. In the first episode of the sixth and final season of The Crown Al-Fayed (played by Salim Dau) appears introducing Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) to Dodi (Khalid Abdalla) aboard his yacht. In an epic scene, Diana and her sons, Princes Harry and William, arrive in Saint-Tropez, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, in southeastern France.

These events, which may or may not have occurred in the summer of 1997, Dodi joins Lady Di and her children; and the father supposedly orders him to court the female. The words that the parent would have expressed were “I would feel proud”, alluding to the fact that both could maintain a loving relationship.

For the second episode, the relationship intensifies a little more, since it is ensured that both share the same bed. In the drama, that opportunity is used for the father to ask the Italian photographer, Mario Brenna, to take the iconic snapshots of the couple aboard the yacht.

The honorable Lady Di died in a controversial car accident in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris, France. In the car were her then partner Al-Fayed and the driver of the unit, Henri Paul.

The first part of the sixth season of The Crown It is now available on Netflix. The second part will premiere on December 14.
