They eliminate stimulus for gasoline and diesel

The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) eliminated the fiscal stimulus for premium gasoline and diesel for the third time, so motorists will have to pay more for fuel.

In a decree published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), it also determined to reduce the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) for Magna gasoline to 2.19 percent.

According to the Treasury publication, during the week of May 11 to 17, Mexicans must pay 5.2146 pesos for each liter of Premium fuel (greater than or equal to 91 octane, and not fossil fuels). In the case of diesel, the cost will be 6.7865 pesos.

Likewise, for Magna gasoline (less than 91 octane) you must pay 6.0397 pesos for each liter and in this case the federal agency will only contribute 13 cents of the taxes on each liter of fuel; This is one fifth of the 78 cents (12.74 percent) it contributed from May 4 to 10.

It must be clarified that from the week of January 27 to February 2, gasoline lower than 91 octane did not have such a low fiscal stimulus, since on that occasion the Ministry of Finance supported it with only 1.48 percent.

In accordance with the provisions of the first article of the IEPS Law, this is the tax that is paid for the sale and import of certain products, such as: gasoline, diesel, alcoholic beverages, beer and manufactured tobacco, soft drinks, junk food , among other goods, as well as for the provision of certain services.

However, to help ensure that there are no “gasoline surges” or price increases, the agency headed by Rogelio Ramírez de la O supports drivers with fiscal incentives so that fuel is accessible. With this, Mexicans will have to pay an average of 25 pesos to fill their tanks.
