Otis Frazier III recorded a season-high and game-high 21 points and tied a school record with eight steals, while Tae Hardy added 20 points to help lead the UTEP basketball team to a convincing 73-59 wire-to-wire victory over Middle Tennessee at the Don Haskins Center this Thursday night.

The Miners (10-8, 1-2 CUSA) turned 27 turnovers by the Blue Raiders (6-12, 0-3 CUSA) into 28 points, with a shooting percentage of 47.9 percent (23-48) in field goals, including 42.9 percent (6 -14) from long distance, as well as 72.4 percent (21-29) on free throws. UTEP set the tone early by racing to an 8-0 lead and eventually increased that lead to 13 before settling for a nine-point cushion (34-25) at halftime. The visitors never got closer than six during the second half, with the El Pasoans up by as many as 17 (66-49) with 5:55 left in regulation time.

The Miners improve to 9-2 at home this year while also earning their first Conference USA victory this season. UTEP will look for a second straight victory when it hosts the Western Kentucky Hiltoppers this Saturday starting at 7 pm.
