WhatsApp is bringing new in-app Nearby file sharing feature, know everything

WhatsApp is working on a new feature that allows users to share files with nearby contacts. The new beta version (2.24.2.17) of WhatsApp on Android has a feature that allows file transfer via Bluetooth. Recently Google and Samsung improved Nearby Share, the built-in file-sharing feature on Android, and renamed it Quick Share. Here we are telling you about the upcoming features of WhatsApp.

This new capability will facilitate file sharing between Android phones and Windows and Chrome OS PCs. It provides users with a faster and better solution by allowing them to transfer files up to 2GB in size compared to traditional technologies like transferring files over chat or using cloud storage.

According to WABetaInfo, for the transfer to take place, both users must be in the “People Nearby” area of the app and remain there. End-to-end encryption will make it clear that file sharing is as secure as WhatsApp’s default setup. One thing to note is that users will have to shake their phone to start sharing. End-to-end encryption provides security for privacy while effectively managing file transfers.

This new function will be useful for normal WhatsApp users. However, this doesn’t seem to be much of a necessity given the recent Quick Share upgrades by Google and Samsung. If it works on both iOS and Android, then this function of WhatsApp can be very useful. WhatsApp’s file-sharing function is reportedly being developed and may be available in an upcoming version of the app. However, it is not clear when it will be brought to the stable version of the program.

Let us tell you that recently Meta had revealed 4 new features for WhatsApp channel users. The messaging platform has also expanded the features available in channels, including the ability to have multiple admins, send audio messages, start polling, and publish updates from channels on WhatsApp status.
