Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujit Kapoor gave instructions in a meeting with senior police officers of the state through video conferencing on Friday. He stressed the need to provide a safe and fear-free environment to the people of the state. In the meeting, he reviewed the points as per the agenda and gave necessary directions to the officers. In this regard, a meeting was organized on August 18, of which a follow-up and review meeting was conducted.
DGP said that Haryana Police will run Safe City campaign in all the districts of the state. Under the campaign, work is being done adopting various aspects regarding women’s safety. Women from across the state will be involved in this campaign. A data base of women is being prepared by Haryana Police. For this, women will have to register themselves on helpline number 112.
By coordinating with schools, colleges and other institutions, women will be motivated to register on 112. It is planned to complete the data feeding process by September 30. The Director General of Police said that people involved in criminal activities in the society will be dealt with strictly. A list of people who molest and domineering women will be made and action will be taken against them as per rules.
Even in rural areas, policemen will be put on duty in the hotspot areas where women are molested so that women can get a safe environment. Many other topics including providing soft skill training, preparing districts’ own SWAT team, preparing database to catch criminals, village sentinel, preventing cyber crime, running de-addiction campaign and many other topics were also discussed in detail in the meeting. In this meeting at Police Headquarters, ADGP (Law and Order) Mamta Singh, ADGP (Crime) Ajay Singhal, ADGP (Administration) Kala Ramachandran, IGP (Modernization) Amitabh Dhillon, AIG (Provisioning) Kamaldeep Goyal, AIG (Welfare) Kulwinder Singh were present. Police Commissioners from across the state, ADGP/IGP of all ranges, DIG/STF Bhondsi and Superintendents of Police attended the meeting virtually.

Kapoor directed to launch a campaign against people illegally using sirens and red lights on vehicles. Under the campaign, challans will be sent to government or private vehicle drivers who use red light or siren unauthorizedly. He said that no one has the right to play with the law, such drivers will be challaned under the MV Act.

Addressing the officers in the meeting, he said that the efforts of the police personnel should be to promptly resolve the complaints received from the general public so that the person gets timely justice. He said that after the complaint received is resolved, the policeman must contact the complainant and take his feedback whether the complainant is satisfied with the action taken or not. Points are given to each district based on the feedback of the complainant.

Kapoor said that officers or employees doing good work in Haryana Police will also be honoured. He said that Haryana Police respects the working officers or employees. Indiscipline will not be tolerated. If any policeman has a good suggestion to improve the functioning of the police, then they should feel free to share it. Good suggestions will be worked on.
