Xiaomi’s Redmi sold 1 billion units in 10 years

Sales of smartphones of Chinese devices maker Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi have reached one billion units in the last decade. Xiaomi started Redmi to sell high quality smartphones at affordable prices. This strategy brought a big change in the smartphone market.

This achievement was announced by Lu Weibing, Senior Executive of Xiaomi Group. Xiaomi introduced Redmi as a separate sub-brand four years ago. This increased the focus on Redmi. After this Redmi has launched many new smartphones. Recently it launched Redmi Note 13R Pro. Last month Redmi Note 13, Note 13 Pro and Note 13 Pro+ were introduced. The price of the variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage of Redmi Note 13R Pro is 1,999 Yuan (approximately Rs 23,336). This smartphone launched in China has been made available in Midnight Black, Time Blue and Morning Light Gold colors.

Redmi Note 13R Pro has a 6.67-inch OLED display. It has a Full HD+ resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels, a refresh rate of 12 0Hz, and a peak brightness level of 1,000 nits. This smartphone has Mediatek Dimensity 6080 chipset with 12 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. Its 5,000mAh battery supports 33 W charging. It runs on MIUI 14 based on Android 13.

This smartphone has a 108-megapixel primary camera with 3x in-sensor zoom and a 2-megapixel depth camera. Its front has a 16 megapixel camera for selfie and video calls. It has a fingerprint sensor on the side for security. Its connectivity options include USB-C port, 3.5 mm audio jack, 5G, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The company launched Redmi K60 Ultra smartphone in August. More than 2.20 lakh units were sold in just five minutes. This smartphone was brought in variants with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. It has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz.
